PURPOSE:

The Vice President-Inclusion & Diversity will serve as the champion for advancing and evolving our Inclusion & Diversity vision, strategy and initiatives in a manner that advances the company’s business objectives. Reporting to the President, this person will help further shape and sustain an inclusive and equitable culture as a member of our officer team. The successful candidate will be a leader with the business acumen, subject matter expertise in inclusion and diversity and the know-how to influence, create, implement and sustain impactful change across our growing organization.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The VP-I&D must be an effective and results driven leader with excellent interpersonal, team building and communication skills along with strong problem-solving, decision-making ability and a business focus. The VP-I&D must be able to excel in a fast-paced environment and successfully manage competing priorities daily. The VP-I&D must have exceptional leadership, interpersonal and relationship building skills and must be able to consult with and advise the executive team, store leadership teams, HR team, learning department, other leaders and associates at all levels throughout the organization. The person in this role must have the ability to use discretion and good judgment in handling confidential information.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Expand upon the vision, direction and execution of overall inclusion and diversity strategy and road map for Floor & Decor, including training, education, engagement and program development.
  • Partnering with the executive leadership and associates throughout the organization, ensure the company’s inclusion and diversity strategy remains aligned with the company’s business objectives and can be executed in a manner effective for a fast-growing multi-unit retailer.
  • Partner with executive leadership and associates throughout the organization to further develop a comprehensive inclusion and diversity strategy that is aligned with the company’s long-term strategic objectives and prioritizes initiatives accordingly.  
  • Leverage resources, insight, know-how, relationships and data to ensure involvement, support and success for inclusion and diversity initiatives. Provide leadership and strategy in further designing and building Floor & Decor’s reputation and employment brand with a focus on attracting a diverse employee population.
  • Enhance company culture by ensuring the company’s commitment to inclusion and diversity is reflected in business processes and programs, including hiring, development, retention, promotions, compensation, customer focused initiatives as well as community relations efforts.  
  • Encourage and moderate open and practical conversations to lead departments, teams and individuals to a greater understanding of inclusion and diversity in the workplace.
  • Listen to and give voice to emergent issues of inclusion and diversity within the organization and community. 
  • Identify and develop partnerships with outside speakers, experts and other resources to further drive and promote the inclusion and diversity strategy for the organization.
  • Facilitate and share best practices for enhancing inclusivity, open exchange and cultural competency; and benchmark Floor & Decor’s inclusion and diversity efforts and progress with best-in-class organizations.
  • Demonstrate accountability, progress and improvement by setting benchmarks and quantitative and qualitative goals; regularly measure effectiveness and communicate results.
  • Able to prioritize multiple initiatives based on business objectives, manage a budget and drive initiatives to completion.
  • Work with IR team to articulate inclusion and diversity efforts in the context of the company’s overall ESG strategy.
  • Be able to play a cross-functional leadership role on other ESG initiatives.

MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • BA/BS degree. Five to ten years of senior leadership experience designing, implementing and sustaining key company initiatives in a complex organization. Experience in retail is a plus.
  • Capable of directly advising and influencing senior leadership on D&I integration.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate a large, complex organization and demonstrated ability to influence in a highly collaborative, cross functional environment. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to include written, oral, listening, synthesizing and presenting along with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in a diverse environment. Proven track record of facilitating conversations and mediating diverse opinions to address shared needs and concerns and to drive business objectives.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality inclusion and diversity initiatives that achieved targeted goals. Demonstrated aptitude with infusing inclusion and diversity practices.
  • Ability to work effectively with strong emotional intelligence and particularly adept at collaborating with others  
  • Proven leadership in change management, strategic planning, program design, execution and sustainability.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate partnerships with and between company and community constituencies.
  • Awareness of global, national and regional trends around inclusion and diversity.
  • Demonstrated budget development and oversight experience along with ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines while handling a demanding workload.  Must be both a strategic leader and a tactical worker.
  • A strong work ethic, with a results-oriented philosophy and personal qualities of trustworthiness, openness, accessibility and flexibility.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Applications and virtual technology.

WORKING CONDITIONS (TRAVEL & ENVIRONMENT):

  •  Auto and air travel with overnight stays.

PHYSICAL/SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

Sedentary Work – Ability to exert 10 - 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time."
