The Vice President-Diversity, Equity & Inclusion will serve as the champion for advancing and evolving our DE&I vision, strategy, and initiatives in a manner that advances the company's business objectives and reinforces our culture. This person will help further shape and sustain an inclusive and equitable culture as a member of our officer team. The successful candidate will be a leader with the business acumen, subject matter expertise in diversity, equity & inclusion, and the know-how to influence, create, implement and sustain impactful change across our growing organization.
The VP- DE&I must be an effective and results-driven leader with strong problem-solving, decision-making ability, and a business focus. This leader must have exceptional leadership, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills and must be able to consult with and advise the executive team, store leadership teams, HR team, learning department, other leaders, and associates at all levels throughout the organization. They must also be able to excel in a fast-paced environment and successfully manage competing priorities daily. They must also develop a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion department that becomes a Center of Excellence (COE), working with all departments to execute our strategy successfully. The person in this role must have the ability to use discretion and good judgment in handling confidential information.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Partner with the executive leadership team and associates throughout the organization to further develop the vision, direction, and execution of overall diversity, equity & inclusion strategy, and road map for Floor & Decor, including training, education, engagement, program development, and implementation.
Partnering with the executive leadership and associates throughout the organization ensures its diversity, equity, and inclusion strategy remains aligned with its business objectives. It can be prioritized and executed effectively for a fast-growing multi-unit retailer.
Leverage resources, insight, know-how, relationships, and data to ensure involvement, support, and success for inclusion and diversity initiatives.
Provide leadership and strategy in further designing and building Floor & Decor's reputation and employment brand to attract a diverse employee population.
Enhance company culture by ensuring its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion results in a high degree of belonging and is reflected in our business processes and programs, including hiring, associate development, retention, promotions, compensation, and customer-focused initiatives, well as community relations efforts.
Encourage and moderate open and practical conversations to lead departments, teams, and individuals to a greater understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.
Enhance the strategy and facilitate and broaden our F&D Cares program in the community.
Listen to and give voice to emergent issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion within the organization and community.
Identify and develop partnerships with outside speakers, experts, and other resources to further drive and promote the diversity, equity, and inclusion strategy for the organization.
Facilitate and share best practices for enhancing inclusivity, open exchange, and cultural competency; benchmark Floor & Decor's diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts and progress with best-in-class organizations.
Build a comprehensive measurement system that supports our strategy for accountability demonstrating, progress and improvement by setting benchmarks and quantitative and qualitative objectives; regularly measure effectiveness and communicate results.
Able to prioritize multiple initiatives based on business objectives, manage a budget and drive initiatives to completion.
Advance our strategic roadmap and key performance indicators to align with our diversity, equity, and inclusion objectives within our business outcomes,
Work with IR, Internal and External Communication teams to articulate diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in the context of the company’s overall ESG strategy.
Be able to play a cross-functional leadership role on other ESG initiatives.
MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
BA/BS degree. Five to ten years of senior leadership experience designing, implementing, and sustaining key company initiatives in a complex organization. Experience in retail is a plus.
Capable of directly advising and influencing senior leadership on DE&I integration.
Demonstrated ability to navigate a large, complex organization and demonstrated ability to influence in a highly collaborative, cross-functional environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to include written, oral, listening, synthesizing, and presenting, along with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in a diverse environment. Proven track record of facilitating conversations and mediating diverse opinions to address shared needs and concerns and drive business objectives.
Ability to deliver high-quality diversity equity and inclusion initiatives that achieve targeted goals. Demonstrated aptitude with infusing diversity, equity, and inclusion practices.
Ability to work effectively with strong emotional intelligence and particularly adept at collaborating with others
Proven leadership in change management, strategic planning, program design, execution, and sustainability.
Demonstrated ability to facilitate partnerships with and between company and community constituencies.
Awareness of global, national, and regional trends around inclusion and diversity.
Demonstrated budget development and oversight experience and the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines while handling a demanding workload. Must be both a strategic leader and a tactical worker.
A strong work ethic with a results-oriented philosophy and personal qualities of trustworthiness, openness, accessibility, and flexibility.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Applications and virtual technology.
