Systems Security Engineer

The Systems Security Engineer safeguards the organization’s information systems. This role will be expected to design and implement security measures to monitor and protect sensitive data and systems from threats, both internal and external. The Systems Security Engineer is the systems security subject matter expert on the Enterprise Security Team and works closely with our Infrastructure Engineering, Development, Release, and Architecture teams.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements
Bachelor’s degree (relevant experience can be substituted for the required education on the basis of one calendar year of experience for one academic year of education)
Five years of relevant experience required or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job, as determined by the company
Direct experience with security and compliance frameworks/standards like PCI DSS, SOC2, ISO27001.
Direct experience with preparing for the network for security assessments and remediating findings from audits and penetration testing.
Deep experience with key components of a complete security solution such as: network asset management, systems hardening, vulnerability management, privileged access management, security information and event management; threat monitoring, endpoint detection and response, and application security management.
Hands-on experience in deploying and administering security tools and appliances - creating policies, tuning, log analysis, troubleshooting and diagnosing problems. Experience with the following solutions are preferred:
Proficient in administration of Windows Server 2008 R2 and above
Proficient in the administration of RedHat Enterprise Linux 6.6 and above
Server / workstation virtualization experience required
Microsoft SCCM 2012 experience required
AirWatch MDM experience preferred
Endpoint Detection and Response experience required (Cisco AMP, Carbon Black, Tanium)
Vulnerability Management experience required (Nessus, Qualys)
Public Key Infrastructure Management experience required
System automation tools (Puppet, Chef) and DevOps tools experience preferred
Microsoft Windows Network Services (DNS, DHCP, Firewall)
Network Systems and Device Hardening (CIS Security Baseline Configurations / DISA STIG preferred)
Programming and Scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, Linux shell preferred)
Systems and security certifications such as: RHCSA/RHCSE, MCSA/MCSE, CISSP, GSEC, CCSP, CEH, Security+, or Network+.
Excellent communication skills and ability to document and explain technical details clearly and concisely.
Must be detail oriented and organized
Must possess excellent customer service skills and work well under pressure
Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment

Essential Job Functions
Responsible for deployment design, installation, administration, and maintenance of information security systems.
Responsible for documenting system implementations, producing systems performance reports, and generating process documentation such as change control documentation, work orders, incident reports in compliance with the IT service management.
Acts as the Systems Security representative on the Incident Response team and perform security incident response and investigations in a timely manner.
Collaborates with technical writer to create documentation for security solutions to include technical design documents, administrator handbooks, and end user guides.
Participates in knowledge transfer sessions with IT administrators and end users of security solutions.
Perform maintenance after hours and in change windows and participates in on-call rotation.

Working Conditions (travel/environment)
Occasional travel required including air and car travel.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to a warehouse environment and moving vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is typically quiet to moderate.


Physical/Sensory Requirements
Ability to exert 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10-25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. The employee is often required to use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
