Senior Manager, Diversity & Inclusion

The D&I manager will be responsible for leading end-to-end implementation of key diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives in a manner that advances core enterprise objectives. Reporting to the VP of D&I, this person will manage the further development, refinement and execution of the strategic plan for D&I. The successful candidate will be a results-oriented leader with subject matter expertise in diversity, equity and inclusion, proven cross-functional leadership experience, broad range of communications experience and the know-how to influence, implement and sustain impactful change across our growing organization.  


The manager must be an effective, solution-driven leader with change management experience and strong communication, presentation, interpersonal and relationship-building skills. The manager must have a solid track record of excelling in fast-paced environments, when faced with ambiguity and while managing competing priorities concurrently. The manager must be an excellent collaborator and trusted business partner with demonstrated ability to consult with and advise leaders and partners at all levels throughout the organization. The person in this role must have the ability to use discretion and good judgment in handling confidential information.


  • Provide oversight of development, implementation and measurement of best-in-class, scalable and sustainable diversity, equity and inclusion strategies, such as communications, community relations, supplier diversity, philanthropy, talent management, learning and development, and employment and multicultural marketing.
  • Contribute strategic insight of industry best practices and analyses to develop data-driven recommendations and serve as advisor, consultant and subject matter expert for business partners, D&I steering committee and task force groups.
  • Partner with multi-functional teams to ensure company’s commitment to D&I is embedded in existing systems, practices, processes and policies including recruiting, hiring, training, development, engagement, career pathing, succession planning, retention, promotions and compensation as well as customer-focused initiatives and community relations efforts.
  • Support and advance department vision and mission by managing D&I strategies, roadmaps, communications plans and measurement tools.
  • Create communications to target all units and levels of the company including enterprise-wide communications, presentations for BOD and executive leadership, and community-facing content.
  • Establish and build partnerships with business leaders, experts, speakers and other resources to further refine, promote and progress D&I programs and strategies.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to continually improve and evolve D&I strategies, accelerate innovation and build the company’s D&I brand.


  • BA/BS degree; advanced degree a plus.
  • Minimum of ten years of progressive business experience and proven track record leading cross-functional projects spanning all levels of an organization; experience in retail a plus.
  • Five to ten years of experience leading highly visible, enterprise-wide diversity, equity and inclusion or related initiatives with success leading project, program and change management initiatives of varying degrees of complexity and scale.
  • Background and/or strong working knowledge in HR, talent management, learning, organizational development, leadership development, workforce planning, and succession management.
  • Highly skilled collaborator and adept at influencing without authority, developing the best solutions by merging ideas and advancing D&I strategies within a cross-functional, multi-location environment.
  • Subject matter expertise in D&I and current on industry trends in diversity, equity and inclusion with demonstrated thought leadership on industry best practices.
  • Experience in crafting D&I-related content and presentations for communications targeting a broad range of audiences including associates, stakeholders, executive leadership and BOD.
  • Excellent communication skills to include written, oral, listening, synthesizing and presenting leveraged to clearly, concisely and effectively communicate complex ideas, concepts, messages and proposals to diverse audiences and report outs to key stakeholders.
  • Background in research and data analysis with demonstrated capacity to complete external benchmarking, measure accountability through metrics and develop data-driven recommendations.
  • Self-starter with high emotional intelligence, cultural competence, comfort with ambiguity and ability to solidify and grow influence with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and virtual technologies; adept at excelling while working remotely.

Sedentary Work – Ability to exert 10 - 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time."
