Senior Manager, Container Drayage Operations.

This position will direct and coordinate all container drayage operations, negotiations, process development, vetting, and carrier selection for the North American Logistics team.  This position will require working with cross functional teams to identify and implement solutions to opportunities through analysis and create sustainable solutions to enhance the company’s supply chain operations while continuously lowering costs, standardizing service, and increasing service level.  It will also require management of all freight claims and freight invoicing.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or a related field preferred (relevant experience can be substituted for the required education on the basis of one calendar year of experience for one academic year of education)
  • Three to five years of relevant experience required
  • Proficiency with software applications and Manhattan’s iTMS
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and analytical skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with carriers and staff at all organizational levels

Essential Job Functions:

  • Own the operational and financial performance of the Container Drayage Program.
  • Design and implement operating models that will drive the future improvements of our operation.
  • Utilizing the different port websites to check and keep track of each container available as necessary
  • Work closely with our Distribution Center Teams on day to day operations and process improvement
  • Manage drayage carriers, making sure they are on schedule for dropping containers, as well as picking up containers
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective carriers
  • Monitor and address issues in iTMS with drayage providers and shipment issues
  • Provide industry expertise, guidance, and support
  • Use data to drive operational and productivity improvements
  • Responsible for F&D leased chassis and container storage, per diem and demurrage management
  • Responsible for dedicated drayage fleets including ensuring optimum overall performance and utilization
  • Keep Track of F&D leased chassis via online tracking system and monitor/report on utilization
  • Function as a key communication link between various departments; contribute to the training and development of team members; create and manage documentation for established processes and new process development.  This position has four direct reports
  • Responsible for freight invoice analysis, audit and processing as necessary
  • Manage freight claims program, develop and implement new processes, and work with store teams to resolve issues.
  • Report out on key KPIs

 Working Conditions (travel & environment)

  • Limited travel required including air and car travel.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to a warehouse


Sedentary Work – Ability to exert 10 - 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
