Senior Manager Benefits

The Benefit and Leave Administration Manager oversees the day-to-day processing of benefit programs. The Benefit Manager works with vendors to project future costs and changes in benefit programs. Ensures all benefit programs are compliant with changing laws and regulations. Research and evaluate market trends to ensure competitiveness of benefits package.
In addition to providing thought leadership and participating in strategy development, must also provide strong and recent hands-on management of company’s health and welfare benefits plans, wellness, 401(k) retirement, leaves of absence and disability plans. Must possess strong management skills and be able to lead both internal and external teams (consultants, vendors). Serves as liaison between outside vendors and company employees as necessary.
Minimum Eligibility Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree HR, business or related field
Minimum of 5-7 years of benefits oversight including benefits operations and administration
experience
Must have clear understanding of compliance requirements and federal and state regulations
pertaining to programs like ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Workers’ Compensation, Medicare and
Social Security, and State Disability Plans
Understanding of group insurance benefits plans (fully-insured and self-insured programs)
Familiarity with federal legislation related to 401(k) retirement & welfare plans

Effective project management skills

Benefits Plan Design and Strategy
Assist in the management of annual renewal process
Examine plan design and benefits cost changes
Assist with developing long-range objectives regarding benefit programs in conjunction with

Research and evaluate market trends to ensure competitiveness of benefits offerings

Health and Welfare Benefits Operations and Administration Responsibilities
Develops and maintains relationships with benefits broker, third party benefits service center,
benefits carriers, and other vendors (e.g. Willis Towers Watson, Liazon, CIGNA, Aetna, One
America, etc.)
Key partner with F&D Payroll, Finance, Audit and General Ledger
Responsible for regulatory reporting compliance requirements (e.g. 5500s, ERISA, COBRA,
HIPPA, ACA, SPD’s, etc.)
Management of ACA data submittals and Regulatory Reporting
Responsible for plan documents, summary plan descriptions, and other benefit communications
materials. Development of communication or benefit related information and documents.
Tier 3 escalation for Benefits and Leaves of Absences issues - responds to employees for health and
welfare and other benefit questions, issues and concerns. Communicates to carriers from an
administration and advocacy perspective when necessary and communicate effectively to all parties
involved
Prepare reports to analyze costs, identify trends, and track benefit plan use and stats
Benefits vendor billing and reconciliations. Responsible for working with finance to assure accuracy
of vendor billings, timely reconciliation, and invoice finalization
Overall responsible for benefits data, reporting, reconciliations, and required audits
Overall responsible for the reconciliation, auditing, and analyzing benefits enrollment, coverages,
and benefits deductions between Benefits Recordkeeper, HRIS, Payroll and Accounting
Reports on benefits data per pay-period including employee contributions, employer expense,
adjustments prior to each payroll processing
Oversee accuracy and maintenance of employee benefit data -troubleshoot and resolve all data
issues
Oversight of benefits/vendor integrations Ensure benefits vendor file feed integrations run
smoothly and accurately. Assists with resolves issues with the system and integrations; research and
implement enhancements and automation related to benefits processes. Partners with IT to resolve
issues
Implement enhancements and automation related to benefits processes
Manage Benefits annual enrollment (Process/Timeline/Collateral)
Oversight and administration of wellness programs
Leaves of Absences
Manage Leave of Absence (LOA) processes and procedures and provide direction and
communication within the organization
Oversight of 3rd party Leaves and Disability administer
Oversight of State Disability Programs
Must be subject matter expect with FMLA and other leave programs. Stays up-to-date on changing
state and federal regulations

401k) Retirement Savings Plan
Responsible for the operational administration of the 401(k) Plan focusing on accuracy, and

Oversight of 3rd party 401(k) administrator and recordkeeper
Manage 401(k) Plan funding & critical processes
Responsible for the analysis, reporting, and forecasting of 401(k) expense
Performs routine 401(k) audits
Manage vendor files (ingoing and outgoing) per pay-period
