Senior Director North American Logistics

Job Description:

Purpose

This position is responsible for directing and overseeing operations within the organization’s domestic supply chain team, including the transportation and distribution of product, carrier selection and negotiation, carrier management, home delivery, dedicated fleet services, store operations support, and ecommerce fulfillment.  This position is responsible for over $50M in transportation spend and has decision making authority across the domestic supply chain.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree Logistics, Supply Chain Management or related field (relevant experience can be substituted for the required education on the basis of one calendar year of experience for one academic year of education)
  • Ten years of experience in supply chain, logistics and distribution, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job, as determined by the company
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., advanced Excel, intermediate Word and Power Point)
  • Proven problem-solving and team building skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment

Essential Job Functions

  • Responsible for the developing, documenting, and executing a comprehensive domestic supply chain strategic plan which will drive optimal customer service and profitability
  • Manage and optimize the company’s domestic supply chain network with multiple distribution centers, vendors, and store locations
  • Ensure all regulatory and compliance measures are met within guidelines
  • Identify and implement best in class TMS technology, infrastructure suitable to the scope and size of the business along with disciplines that underlie a supply chain operation
  • Support implementation of distribution best practices such as systems integration and optimization, inventory control, demand planning, and SKU optimization
  • Drive operational excellence and best practices across the network reducing cost year over year
  • Minimize company risk and maintain compliance in area of environment, health, and safety (EH&S)
  • Identify and develop talent within the organization
  • Manage store support for all deliveries in the network
  • Identify process improvement and documentation
  • Manage associate training on new supply chain programs
  • Manage domestic supply chain budget development
  • Manage freight invoice audit and approval program
  • Manage for-hire and dedicated carriers
  • Responsible for supply chain management of new store openings
  • Manage eCommerce and PRO/Commercial fulfillment
  • Manage home delivery / fulfillment to end customer
  • Develop and administer bids for transportation services
  • Negotiate agreements with possible supply chain providers
  • Manage and monitor contracts with existing supply chain providers

Working Conditions (travel,   environment)

  • Occasional travel may be required including air and car travel
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to a warehouse environment and moving vehicles.  The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate to.

Physical/Sensory Requirements

Medium Work – Ability to exert 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10-25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.  The employee is often required to use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
