Program Manager- Drayage/Invoicing

Purpose

This position is responsible for all port container drayage, managing from release at port to delivery and return of the containers.  The Drayage Program Manager is responsible for supporting F&D’s Distribution Centers and managing our drayage providers to make sure containers are delivered on-time and empties are returned to port to avoid accessorial charges. This position will handle TMS tracking, payment, invoice matching, and communicating invoice related concerns across the carrier base as well as internal stakeholders. 

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (relevant experience can be substituted for the required education on the basis of one calendar year of experience for one academic year of education)
  • Four years of relevant experience required or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job, as determined by the company
  • Proven problem-solving and team building skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Has exempt level experience involving various operational level positions
  • Working knowledge of Transportation process and Supply Chain as a whole
  • Must be detail oriented and organized
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills and work well under pressure
  • Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience dealing with LA/Long Beach, Houston, Savannah, & Baltimore ports a plus.

Essential Functions

Supply Chain

  • Utilizing the different port websites to check and keep track of each container available as necessary
  • Manage drayage carriers, making sure they are on schedule for dropping containers, as well as picking up containers
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective carriers.
  • Monitor and address issues in TMS with drayage providers
  • Provide industry expertise, guidance, and support
  • Use data to drive operational and productivity improvements
  • Responsible for F&D leased chassis and container storage, per diem and demurrage management
  • Responsible for dedicated drayage fleets including ensuring optimum overall performance and utilization
  • Keep Track of F&D leased chassis via online tracking system and monitor/report on utilization
  • Function as a key communication link between various departments; contribute to the training and development of team members; create and manage documentation for established processes and new process development
  • Responsible for freight invoice analysis, audit and processing as necessary
  • Report out on key KPIs

Working Conditions (travel, hours, environment)

  • This position is salaried, knowing it may include hours which exceed eight hours in a day or forty hours in a week

  • Occasional travel required including air and car travel
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to a warehouse environment and moving vehicles.  The noise level in the work environment is typically quiet to moderate.

Physical/Sensory Requirements

Sedentary Work – Ability to exert 10 - 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
