Job Description:

PURPOSE

The Merchandising Project Analyst will collaborate with department teams to help define project goals, develop detailed work plans, align expectations, identify performance measures, and assist with the management and execution of merchandising initiatives. This role will serve as a strategic partner to departments throughout the organization in supporting – and at times, leading – solution-oriented projects that drive positive outcomes. The Project Analyst provides day-to-day oversight of assigned projects and helps to ensure business need(s) and requirements are defined and scoped accurately. This individual advises and challenges stakeholders through the project delivery lifecycle to identify performance efficiency and/or process development gaps and ensure business need(s) are met. In addition to project management support, the analyst will assist in the development of project management resources (deliverables, tools, templates), documentation of business process(es), facilitation of meetings, and distribution of project communications to internal/external stakeholders.

MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be detail-oriented and willing to challenge the status quo and look beyond the obvious to make informed decisions and add value; An appetite to contribute and grow
  • Demonstrates creativity, intellectual curiosity and a strong desire to understand key operational business processes
  • Experience with workflow applications or project management software to organize activities and manage responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to interpret business objectives and successfully incorporate those objectives into a project plan, to establish and communicate the project vision, structure, and approach
  • Experience in group facilitation and presentation settings; confident in oral, written, and visual communication skills (executive presence); Demonstrates tact and diplomacy
  • Competent in fundamentals of business process and system design; capable of reviewing and providing input and/or feedback on proposed solutions (big thinker and smart risk taker)
  • Excellent customer service skills with proven problem-solving and team building skills
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload; must be able to manage multiple tasks without sacrificing attention to detail
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business Management, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or related field preferred
  • 3+ years of professional experience with a consulting, retail, consumer products, or technology services organization
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Work, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) products and/or other productivity software applications
  • Certification in project management from the Project Management Institute (PMI) or equivalent project management certification highly preferred

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Acts as a change agent and engages with stakeholders at all levels to help innovate and drive operational efficiencies
  • Serves as liaison between merchandising, information technology, and other cross-functional areas to facilitate meetings, identify actions, and document outputs
  • Guides business stakeholders through identification and definition of business needs to help translate business-level requirements into technical requirements for scoping
  • Develops and communicates project plans, articulates project team roles, project goals, deliverables, and timelines, while incorporating project management principles
  • Identifies business challenges and opportunities for improvement and solve for them using analysis to make strategic or tactical recommendations.
  • Creates and manages project intake, requirements, and planning processes to ensure all due diligence and deliverables are completed before proceeding to next step for approvals
  • Documents and maintains project inputs, teams, and tasks in Enterprise Project Management tool to ensure quality project delivery performance metrics are visible
  • Participates in the design, development, and delivery of project presentations and other related documents for communication to project stakeholders and senior leadership

WORKING CONDITIONS (TRAVEL, HOURS, ENVIRONMENT)

  • This position is salaried exempt, knowing it may include hours which exceed eight hours in a day or forty hours in a week.
  • The position will be based at Floor & Decors Sales Support Center (SSC) located in Smyrna, GA. The noise level in the work environment is typically quiet to moderate.
  • Minimal to no travel required. If applicable, proper notice will be provided in advance.

PHYSICAL/SENSORY REQUIREMENTS

Sedentary Work – Ability to exert 10 - 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
