Job Description:

Purpose

This position is responsible for leading the integration of new Indirect suppliers into New Store Visual Merchandising’s (NSVM) normal course of business while supporting the management of existing suppliers as outlined in this job description. In addition, the individual will be responsible for all phases of supplier integration that require the skills necessary to identify high quality suppliers, supplier qualification, testing, continuous improvement and standardization of product specifications, cost out opportunities and onboarding new suppliers. The successful candidate will be able to appraise and improve our supplier integration processes by analyzing current state activities while defining needed changes to improve and move to best in class.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Take overall responsibility for the strategic management of integrating new suppliers into NSVM’s normal course of business which includes but is not limited to the following:
    • Working with Indirect Sourcing and the Asian Sourcing Office to identify new suppliers
    • Execute the process for qualifying new suppliers to ensure they meet our specifications
    • Work with Compliance to determine the testing protocol for each product for each supplier and execute the testing
    • On board new suppliers to make sure they understand our policies and processes for doing business
  • Responsible for standardizing and managing specifications for all indirect NSVM products such as pallet racketing, wire decking, steel fabricated fixtures, millwork fixtures and accessories
    • Work with our Engineer of Record to develop specifications and solve for any problems associated with our specifications
    • Work with Safety and Asset Protection team for specification approval where necessary
    • Ensure that drawings for all products are complete, up to date and stored in an electronic repository.
    • Responsible for Continuous Improvement of specifications to improve productivity, reduce risk, improve in store environment and reduce cost
  • Partner with Visual Merchandising to drive the innovation, creation and prototyping of all new NSVM indirect products
    • This includes the creation of internal codes that identify the components required to execute all elements of a store order.
  • Collaborate with Indirect Sourcing to help develop and execute NSVM’s domestic and LCC sourcing strategies for all indirect categories
    • This includes developing scope of work for RFP’s and supplier selection
    • Assist in developing and implementing Supplier Management Program for targeted strategic suppliers focused on Performance, Supplier Development and Innovation
  • Partner with NSVM Execution team to strategically award store assignments to new and existing suppliers
  • Manage and maintain pricing, price changes for all NSVM indirect categories
  •  Develop goals and objective for the role that supports NSVM strategic objectives

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business administration are desired or at least five (5) years retail experience along with 3+ year’s relevant experience developing and managing specifications for fixtures and other in store POP displays.
  • Significant experience with retail store fixtures that includes metals, and wood fabrications and assemblies are desirable and can be combined with other educational backgrounds to satisfy the requirements. Previous retails and or manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • Experience reading and interpreting mechanical drawings
  • Experience in leading and working in cross-functional teams across different business functions
  • Ability to interact credibly with technical & business function professionals as well as senior executives through the CIO, CFO and CEO level
  • Highly motivated and with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high energy and demanding team-oriented environment
  • Six Sigma Green belt or Lean methodology advantageous
  • Thorough “hands-on” and working knowledge of Cad and other tools associated with developing specifications for fixtures and other in store POP displays.    
  • Demonstrated excellent written communications, negotiation skills and strong interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable with managing large data and in collecting, analyzing and interpreting the data
  • Solid judgement with ability to make good decisions
  • Ability to manage projects and establish clear goals and accountabilities to ensure successful delivery (on time, within budget, meeting agreed upon success criteria) of objectives.
  • Advanced systems skills and working knowledge of MS Office, with advanced Excel knowledge
  • Prefer candidate with XXX certificate and must participate and/or collaborate with Professional Associations in XXX

Working Conditions (travel,   environment)

  • Occasional travel required including air and car travel

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to a warehouse environment and moving vehicles.  The noise level in the work environment is typically quiet.

Physical/Sensory Requirements

Sedentary Work – Ability to exert 10 - 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
