Purpose

The Field Human Resources Manager assists the Vice President of Human Resources in providing direction for all HR matters within his or her assigned region(s). The Manager provides excellent customer service and general HR support to stores. This position is responsible for multiple HR functions to include, but not limited to, compensation, training, company initiatives, leave management, employee relations, HR projects, execution of HR deliverables, and general HR support. POSITION WILL BE REMOTE AND WORKING IN THE GREATER TEXAS AREA -- OUT OF HOUSTON OR DALLAS PREFERRED.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

  • BA/BS degree (preferred to be in Human Resources or related field) or equivalent experience required
  • 5 years of HR experience required (relevant experience can be substituted for the required education on the basis of one calendar year of experience for one academic year of education)
  • Has exempt level experience involving various HR disciplines, and including multi-site/multi-state responsibility, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job, as determined by the company 
  • Working knowledge of effective HR practices and legal/regulatory framework in a customer service industry/environment
  • Experience managing leave processes to include FMLA, workers compensation, military, bereavement, jury duty, etc.
  • Working knowledge of employment law including FMLA, EEO, ADA, FLSA, etc. required
  • Familiarity with HRIS systems is a plus
  • Working knowledge of compensation, payroll, and benefits administration
  • Must be detail oriented and organized
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills and work well under pressure
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently, within a team across all levels and diverse cultures, and the ability to lead team projects
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience facilitating meetings at all levels

Essential Functions

Human Resources

  • Supports HR initiatives and best-demonstrated practices in conjunction with line management; collaborates with the VP of HR to identify, develop and implement effective HR practices
  • Assists the VP of HR in providing strategic HR insight into operational issues and goals
  • Assists the VP of HR in developing the competencies of and improving the performance of employees within the company
  • Ensures that all company sites adhere to and comply with applicable company policies and EEO and/or Affirmative Action requirements
  • Assists in facilitating the administration of compensation, incentives, rewards & recognition and  benefit programs
  • Assists operations managers with the HR applicant tracking system, talent acquisition at store level, data management, payroll, and time capture system and recommends enhancements thereto as required by company strategy and growth
  • Triage and troubleshoot incoming HR phone calls and Store Support Center inquires
  • Respond to/investigate employee relations calls and benefit inquires as needed
  • Ensure completion of termination paperwork including company asset collection, etc.
  • Run standard HR reports and provide to the field as well as ad-hoc reports as requested

Employee Relations

  • ER duties include conducting investigations, conflict resolution, discipline administration, policy interpretation, exit interviews, unemployment claims, and all other employee/manager consultation duties
  • Observe and conduct individual discussions or group sessions in store locations to measure changes in employee engagement
  • Assist in handling performance management issues and other employee relations matters
  • Assist VP of HR and store leadership with terminations by conducting on site preliminary investigations, review correctives, review performance evaluations, and responses to employment-related claims and charges 
  • Approve attendance terminations for the field and other performance related terminations for field
  • May conduct site-specific HR audits

Leaves of Absence Management

  • Provides recommendations and partners with VP of HR for escalated leave of absence situations, including requests for reasonable accommodations as defined by federal, state and ADA/FMLA regulations
  • Provide support on WC claims in coordination with HR and Loss/Risk Personnel

HR Projects:

  • Coordinate HR materials for new store openings as needed
  • Assist the VP of HR in developing field support approach in concert with the regional leadership team
  • Assist and/or take lead in conducting webinars and in-person training programs on specific human resources topics including, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, bullying, employee accommodations (i.e., ADA, FMLA, religious), hiring, selection and promotion, workplace violence, documenting workplace events, diversity, employee engagement and company policies and procedures.

Other

  • Follow, communicate and serve as a role model for company policies, procedures and F&D Organizational Goals
  • Prepares compensation, payroll, time and labor, benefits, and other HR related reports as required
  • Reinforce Company Mission, Vision and Values by creating a customer experience of the highest quality
  • The job description provides a framework for the job, other duties may be assigned as necessary

Working Conditions (travel, hours, environment)

  • This position is salaried exempt, knowing it may include hours which exceed eight hours in a day or forty hours in a week
  • Frequent travel (60-80%) required including air and car travel
  • The noise level in the work environment is representative of a retail warehouse and traditional office settings.

Physical/Sensory Requirements

Sedentary Work – Ability to exert 10 - 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
