Human Resources Specialist

Purpose:

Provides support to the Human Resources Director and Vice President of Human Resources with cross functional interaction and support with various departments within the corporate office and the field.  

Minimum Eligibility Requirements:

  • 2 years of experience in a human resources department, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job, as determined by the company. Additional relevant experience can be substituted for the required education on the basis of one calendar year of experience for one academic year of education.  College degree is a plus
  • Experience with Workday is a plus
  • Working knowledge of HR practices and legal/regulatory framework in a corporate/retail environment
  • Knowledge or hands on experience with internal human resources, payroll, benefits, performance management and recruiting processes
  • Excellent computer skills. Intermediate to advanced skills in Word and Excel
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, analytical and reasoning skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize duties and responsibilities
  • Ability to problem solve and help leader’s problem solve general HR issues and concerns

Essential Job Functions:

  • Maintains files and records
  • Timely tracking and reporting on key compliance programs and company process and initiatives
  • Reporting from various HRIS and vendor systems
  • Gathers and distributes employee information in confidence
  • Provides administrative assistance to the HR department as approved by supervisor
  • Lead new on-boarding and assimilation of new hires into the Store Support Center
  • Ensure policies and procedures are being administered to company standard
  • Assist the Director and VP Human Resources with terminations, preliminary investigations, performance management and responses to associate concerns and employment related claims and charges
  • Triage and troubleshoot incoming HR calls and concerns and assign accordingly
  • Answer general HR inquires
  • Ensure unemployment claims and audits are completed for the company

Working Conditions (travel & environment)

  • This position is hourly, knowing it may include hours which exceed eight hours in a day or forty hours in a week
  • Occasional travel required including air and car travel
  • The noise level in the work environment is typically quiet

PHYSICAL/SENSORY    REQUIREMENTS

Sedentary Work – Ability to exert 10 - 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
