Human Resources Director

PURPOSE:

The Director, Human Resources will lead and oversee human resources for the Atlanta Store Support Center (Corporate Office), Atlanta Customer Care Center and Distribution Centers located in various cities.  This role will report to and partner with the Chief Human Resources Officer in building effective partnerships with the business and developing and delivering HR strategy, advice, counsel and support. The person in this role will be responsible for, but not limited to tactical deployment of strategies developed around talent attraction, associate relations, performance management, talent review and succession planning, total rewards, leadership coaching, training and development.  The Director, Human Resources will lead a team of human resources managers located in the Customer Care Center and the Distribution Centers.

                                                                                           

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Serve as HR Business Partner for the Store Support Center (Corporate Office) and lead team of HR managers to partner as trusted business leaders, HR Partners, advisors and coaches to Floor & Decor leaders and associates.
  • Partner closely with the broader HR Leadership Team to translate the company’s strategic and tactical business plans into HR strategic and operational plans with an emphasis on people and culture.
  • Drive, support and champion diversity and inclusion efforts as well as design and execute associate relations programs that enhance associate engagement. 
  • Partner with Legal Team to develop, modify and manage execution of HR compliance policies and initiatives.
  • Partner with Talent Team regarding talent attraction and recruiting efforts, performance management, talent review and succession planning.
  • Partner with Total Reward team in effectively communicating and delivering compensation and benefit information to leaders and associates.
  • Manage process for completing investigations and responding to associate complaints.
  • Lead and evaluate performance of direct reports to ensure continual improvement, efficiency and effectiveness and to provide individuals personal and professional growth.
  • Provide continuous improvement of all people policies, practices, processes and programs associated with meeting the organization’s strategic and operational objectives.

MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field along with 10+ years HR leadership experience. Retail experience a plus.
  • Experience with a distributed workforce and the ability to successfully and effectively work in a matrix model.
  • Outstanding internal customer service and the ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, work well under pressure and effectively deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Forward thinking, results-oriented individual with high ethical standards and strong leadership presence.
  • Philosophy and personal qualities of trustworthiness, openness, accessibility and flexibility.
  • Functional knowledge in all areas of HR along with an understanding of general employment law, investigatory practices, negotiation, problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Working knowledge of effective HR practices, legal/regulatory framework and employment law required including FMLA, EEO, ADA, FLSA, etc.  Experience managing leave process to include FMLA, workers compensation, military, bereavement, jury duty, etc. 
  • Familiarity with payroll processing, applicant tracking and learning management systems, working knowledge of compensation, payroll and benefits administration. 
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to relate to people at all levels of the organization. Skilled facilitator experienced in resolving conflicts between different parties in a dispute.
  • Ability to work effectively with HR leadership team, store operations leadership, executive team as well as other leaders and associates at all levels throughout the organization.
  • Experience leading a team of HR managers and the ability to effectively recruit, hire, coach, train, develop, retain and redirect others as needed to build a diverse and high performing team.
  • Strategic planner with excellent attention to detail and organization skills.
  • Solid critical thinking skills, analytical ability, good judgment and strong business and operational focus.
  • Extensive experience developing, documenting and communicating HR strategies along with experience gathering data, analyzing issues, identifying core causes and addressing opportunities and business challenges. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Human Capital Management Systems. Workday experience a plus.

WORKING CONDITIONS (TRAVEL & ENVIRONMENT):

  • 10 – 15% travel required including air and car.  Currently remote.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally be exposed to a warehouse environment and moving vehicles.  The noise level in the work environment is typically quiet to moderate.
