Grand Opening Inventory Manager

Job Description:

Purpose

To build a team, processes and solutions to open new stores with the right product at the right place at the right time.  This includes managing Relocation inventory, supporting needs for product used constructing Design Centers in new stores, setting up and purchasing both Replenished SKUs and Opportunity Buys while minimizing freight expense and maximizing inventory productivity. This multi-functional position will require extensive partnership with the Merchandising, Supply Chain, Inventory Ops and Stores teams.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred
  • Previous experience managing others will help the right candidate contribute more quickly
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management
  • Must be able to prioritize and lead team projects
  • Must be detail-oriented and organized
  • Action-oriented and accountable for responsibilities
  • Ability to adapt well in a dynamic retail corporate environment
  • E3 forecasting and replenishment solution knowledge is a plus
  • Possess excellent customer service skills and work well under pressure
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must pass pre-employment background check

Essential Functions

  • Supervise and coordinate work of designated employees, developing and delivering a team of high performing Grand Opening Inventory Analysts (GO IAs).
  • Manage various personnel functions including but not limited to hiring, performance appraisals, coaching and development, promotions, transfers, and vacation schedules/coverage.
  • Ensure consistent application of forecasting and replenishment best practices using the E3 solution. This may include creation and training of best practices with special attention paid to the E3 New Store Rollout function. 
  • Monitor performance and proactively root cause errors, making adjustments to the processes to minimize future issues.
  • Partner with the Inventory Operations teams (IAs/IMs) to facilitate the handoff of GO stores once open.
  • Instill confidence through excellent communication and partnership skills providing superior customer service to Merchandising, Supply Chain, Vendors, Inventory Operations and Stores leadership.
  • Understand the New Store and Relocation pipeline, assigning resources to open stores on time.  This may include actively participating in GO or Relocation activities when a compressed schedule has overlapping store activities.
  • Apply strategic thinking by continuously improving the new store inventory process to support aggressive store growth plans.

Working Conditions (travel, hours, environment)

  • This position is salaried, knowing it may exceed eight hours in a day or forty hours in a week

  • Limited travel may be required.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to a warehouse environment and moving vehicles.  The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate.

Physical/Sensory Requirements

Sedentary Work – Ability to exert 10 - 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
