Developer

Purpose

This position supports an organization with enterprise-wide responsibilities for the development and support of applications.  The position is for a Developer on the Payments & POS development team.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or Computer Science (relevant experience can be substituted for the required education on the basis of one calendar year of experience for one academic year of education)
  • 5+ years of MIS and retail systems experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job, as determined by the company
  • Ability to work on multiple “open” projects at one time as they are in various stages of development, test, and approval
  • Proven problem-solving and team building skills
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Must be detail-oriented, highly organized and results driven
  • Possess excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment

Major Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain, and enhance Point of Sale, Payments, Mobile and retail systems. 
  • Integrating POS applications using a wide range of frontend and backend technologies.
  • Responsible for the full software development lifecycle of projects including design, development, unit testing, system testing and change management.
  • Integrate new products and solutions into existing environment for continuous improvement.
  • Develop advanced SQL statements and procedural code on multiple database management systems (SQL Server, DB2, Oracle) supporting numerous end user devices. Tasks include querying data, manipulating data, generating reports, and developing source code.  
  • Work with end users to define business requirements for new projects as well as supporting existing processes.
  • Analyze data and solve business problems related to system capabilities.
  • Work concurrently on multiple projects across different business units.
  • Ability to work in a team setting with both Agile and Waterfall products/projects.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to work in a changing, growing company and demonstrate flexibility.

Position Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and 5+ years of development experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job, as determined by the company.
  • Experience with Retails systems
  • Experience with POS and/or Payment Providers, Pin Pads, Credit/Debit card handling a plus
  • Experience with Java/JEE Frameworks/Technologies (Spring, Hibernate, JMS, JPA, etc.)
  • Experience with Java Application Server ( JBoss Application Server experience a plus)
  • Front end and back end Web development experience. HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX for front end.
  • Experience with Integration/ETL Platforms (Data Stage, Talend).
  • Mobile frameworks experience (angular, node.js, backbone and phone gap or equivalent a plus)
  • Experience with Testing Tools (Regression/Automation), HP Suite preferably
  • Extensive experience writing efficient SQL (MS SQL, PostgreSQL, DB2)
  • Issue and project tracking (JIRA, MS Project)
  • Retail experience in an ERP environment a plus.
  • Experience with Salesforce.com or equivalent CRM a Plus.
  • Ability to convey technical specifications in a business friendly manner.
  • Excellent communication, problem solving, and data analysis skills.
  • Able to work on multiple "open" projects at one time as they are in various stages of development, testing, and approval processes.
  • Ability to pick-up and learn new tools and technologies as needed to complete job tasks.


PHYSICAL/SENSORY REQUIREMENTS
Sedentary Work – Ability to exert 10 - 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.

Store Support Center Associates
Provide leadership and support training on all Safety programs, processes and procedures, insuring that every associate is properly trained for their position.
Follow established Safety procedures in all aspects of work assignments applicable to the position. This includes participating in all Safety related training and acquiring certifications. Each associate is responsible for Safety at the Store Support Center and when visiting other company work locations. All Safety concerns must be brought to the attention of the management of a location and/or the Store Support Center Safety Department immediately.
