Divisional Safety and Loss Prevention Director

Purpose

This position will report to the Division Vice President, with a dotted line to the VP of Operations, Safety and Loss Prevention.  The Divisional Safety and Loss Prevention Director is responsible for ensuring store safety and minimizing shrink in their assigned division.  The individual will analyze internal and external safety and theft trends in the division and to develop strategies to drive improvement.  

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

  • Three+ years of investigator experience.
  • Three+ years of experience in retail safety training.
  • Experience in conducting dishonest employee interviews.
  • Strong knowledge of exception reporting, CCTV Equipment, Covert Camera Installation, Burglar alarms.
  • Internal Interview Technique/Training (Wicklander-Zulawski certification preferred).
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Working knowledge of law enforcement.
  • Strong analytical and time management skills.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality concerning projects and assignments.
  • Knowledge of retail operations, safety, Loss Prevention, investigations and shrink reduction programs.
  • Ability to proactively and independently analyze historical data, theft trends and exceptions.
  • Able to work well with peer regional team members and prioritize appropriately.
  • Able to work strategically to drive measurable results across a region.
  • Proven problem-solving and team building skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, delegation and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic computer skills including MS Word and Excel.

Essential Function

Shrink Prevention and Awareness

  • Travel to and work with high shrink focus store locations in assigned markets to ensure operational processes are in place and promote Asset Protection Awareness.
  • Review data and analyze POS exception reports to detect theft and behaviors that contribute to shrink; validate exceptions using CCTV.
  • Review and investigate large cycle count category variances.
  • Investigate and bring to resolution theft investigations involving dishonest employees in assigned markets.

Safety Standards and Awareness

  • Conduct in-person new store safety training.
  • Ensure stores are performing safety SOPs, including validation of daily safety walk process with management team.
  • Promote Heads Up Awareness and similar initiatives.
  • Review all Worker’s Comp, General Liability Auto and Property Claims to determine root cause and reduce number of claims being filed. 
  • In-store validation of lift equipment procedures.

Hazardous Material Review

  • Validate managers know how to log into the 3E website and find SDS sheet.
  • Ensure 3E contact sheets are posted.
  • Verify hazardous material signage is displayed on compactor.

Working Conditions (travel, environment)

  • Approximately 70%+ travel required, including overnight air and car travel

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to a warehouse environment and moving vehicles.  The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate to noisy.

Physical/Sensory Requirements

Physical Work – Ability exert 30 – 60 pounds of force occasionally, and or 20-30 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry push, pull, or otherwise move objects.  The employee is often required to use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
