District Merchandise Manager (New England)

Purpose:
This position is responsible for developing and building strategies that will maximize sales and profit across the Northeast Region within the Eastern Division.  This position will report to the Division Vice President of Stores and will work closely with the Regional Merchandising Vice President to set the space and local product mix strategy for all product categories throughout the region.  Responsibilities include category management, sales, margin, talent development and inventory management.
 

Minimum Eligibility Requirements:

  • Prefer 3+ years of experience as Floor & Decor Chief Executive Merchant or 5+ years of relevant merchandising experience
  • Strategic thinker with the experience and ability to recognize, influence and maximize product trends in the Region
  • Solid team management and people development skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
  • Must be analytical and possess effective decision making, organization and planning skills
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Successful track record of multi-unit management experience
  • Intermediate to advanced level proficiency with MS Office Suite (especially Excel)


 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop overall company-wide strategies for product categories to maximize sales and margin and ensure Floor and Decor is the industry leader 
  • Achieving budgeted targets for sales and margin
  • Partner with the Chief Executive Merchants, Division Vice President and Regional Merchandising Vice President to maximize our product mix strategies throughout the Northeast Region
  • Be an industry expert with deep technical knowledge of products, industry, vendors, competition, and trends 
  • Continually assess industry trends to provide the strategic guidance necessary for short and long-term planning
  • Ability to manage performance of multiple product categories to achieve financial targets
  • Develop space productivity plans by category to maximize sales and gross margin
  • Partner with Division Vice President and Regional Merchandising Vice President on region specific product needs to be shared with the merchant team for sourcing
  • Manage profitability and NPI by working with the Chief Executive Merchants and inventory team on transition plans and product exit strategies
  • Train and develop the store associates to promote career growth

Working Conditions (travel,   environment)

  • 50-70% travel required including air and car travel.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to a warehouse environment and moving vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is typically quiet to moderate.

Physical/Sensory Requirements

Ability to exert 10 - 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
