Senior Associate Relations Manager

Purpose

This position is responsible for conducting prompt, thorough, and independent investigations of associate matters.  Success in this role will require working effectively with various business partners to ensure that matters brought to the attention of HR are investigated in a timely manner and resolved in-line with company policies and best practices.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Four + years of experience in conducting internal associate investigations  
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to receive and manage confidential/sensitive information with the highest level of integrity
  • Experience identifying relevant legal issues
  • Experience summarizing and documenting investigations findings and recommendations
  • Self-starter, problem solver and ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to prioritize work in order of importance
  • Must work well under pressure
  • Must be organized and have the ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience testifying at depositions or hearings is a plus

Essential Job Functions

  • Lead complex end-to-end investigations of HR related concerns raised through the hotline or other channels, including conducting intake meetings, background research, investigative interviews, and debrief meetings.
  • Determine case specific investigative plan and execute on plan in timely fashion.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Legal, HR, and the businesses to conduct prompt, thorough, independent investigations and appropriate resolution of issues.
  • Conduct interviews of direct and indirect witnesses.  
  • Write comprehensive investigative reports that meet company presentation and process requirements.
  • Provide timely communication to all relevant parties throughout investigations process.
  • Summarize investigation findings and recommendations and present those findings and recommendations to leadership.
  • Simultaneously manage multiple cases, determining priority order.
  • Develop trust, rapport, and influence among partners and business leaders.
  • Analyze trends and work cross-functionally to suggest process improvements.
  • Assess the need for and make recommendations for long-term solutions to identified issues.
  • Develop effective and creative policy resource tools for the HR team and managers to ensure consistent application and interpretation of policy and practice as well as to improve HR skills.
  • Coach on the interpretation and application of HR policy and practices in all phases of employment.  
  • Appropriately assess risk when making recommendations to the business while driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, and adherence to policy.
  • Apply company values and sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices.
  • Testify regarding investigation as needed.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions (travel, environment)

  • Occasional-to-frequent travel required including air and car travel
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to a warehouse environment and moving vehicles.  The noise level in the work environment is typically quiet to moderate/noisy.

Physical/Sensory Requirements

Sedentary Work – Ability to exert 10 - 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
