Sales Audit Accountant
PURPOSE
This position is responsible for protecting the company from incurring bad debt losses due to chargebacks, cash/check shortages, customer refunds, and Point-of-Sale (POS) system issues. The Sales Audit Accountant will be in constant contact with many departments at the Store Support Center and all store managers. As such, this is a highly visible position that has a direct impact on customer service as well as the company’s profitability.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Daily transmission of credit cards within the credit card processing system
- Reconcile all credit card receivable accounts, store depository accounts, deferred revenue and monitoring charge backs and evaluate potential write- offs
- Assist Audit Manager in reconciling all credit card accounts at month-ends
- Balance sales between POS and MMS systems daily
- Post sales in MMS system weekly
- Maintain deposit variance log and assist stores with correcting variances to prevent write-offs
- Review chargebacks with the Audit Manager and process chargebacks to ensure write- offs are not due to sales audit error
- Communicate all bad debt losses to stores in a timely manner
- Daily reconciliation of eCcommerce transactions
- Assist Audit Manager in reconciling PayPal account monthly
- Process customer refund checks on a daily basis
- Reconcile GE Finance account weekly, communicate to stores the outstanding items and assist stores in resolving these items
MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 2-3 years of accounting experience (preferably in a retail environment with exposure to customer service and point of sale (POS) processes)
- Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Must be detail-oriented and highly organized
- Excellent customer service skills and work well under pressure
- Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient with Excel (intermediate level) and other MS Office software applications
- Excellent communications skills (verbal and written)
WORKING CONDITIONS (TRAVEL, HOURS, ENVIRONMENT)
- Limited travel required including air and car travel
- The noise level in the work environment is typically quiet to moderate.
PHYSICAL/SENSORY REQUIREMENTS
Sedentary Work – Ability to exert 10 - 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
