Director, Design Services Operations

Purpose:

As a Design Services/store operations team member, our goal is to simplify the routines for our associates by improving store processes and enabling technology to create a seamless experience.  A benefit of simplifying store processes are improvements to the overall customer experience along their project journey at Floor and Decor.

This position is responsible for enhancing Design processes to improve productivity and efficiency in Design Services. This position will manage Design operational process enhancements with an emphasis on process development and the Design operating model. This position provides input and support by partnering with cross functional departments and others to drive efficiencies, productivity, and process improvements in our stores.  The Director of Design Services Operational Support will report directly to the Vice President of Design Services.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Preferred or 5 to 7 years equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job, as determined by the company
  • Operational retail experience
  • Process improvement experience
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Strong analytical and time management skills
  • Able to maintain confidentiality concerning projects and assignments
  • Ability to proactively and independently analyze operational and productivity metrics
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize those with the highest impact to the company
  • Proven problem-solving and team building skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, delegation and follow-up skills
  • Basic computer skills including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Essential Job Functions:

  • Promote a culture of creativity
  • Explore new technology solutions
  • Project management – manage new process and tool development
  • People management – manage an individual or team who will manage specific projects
  • Process development and management review operational pilots and listen to the stores to adjust and improve processes prior to all store rollout
  • Remove redundancy from Design process to enhance the customer experience and save labor
  • Partner cross functionally with other departments to be sure that their objectives are represented in new store rollouts
  • This position will listen to field needs and lead change management as required
  • This position will manage the communication and task management strategy through Think Time management

Working Conditions (travel & environment)

  • Limited travel required including air and car travel.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to a warehouse environment and moving vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is typically quiet to moderate.

PHYSICAL/SENSORY    REQUIREMENTS

Physical Work – Ability exert 30 – 60 pounds of force occasionally, and or 20-30 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry push, pull, or otherwise move objects.  The employee is often required to use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
