Marketing Technology Manager

The Marketing Technology Manager is responsible for the critical link between the marketing department and the technological capabilities the IT/Ecommerce teams build, bridging the gap between business, people and technology. You will have a deep understanding of the marketing technology strategy, landscape and stack and will partner with marketing and CRM stakeholders to translate marketing needs into requirements and technical solutions. You will lead the partnership with IT and Ecommerce to achieve business objectives through technology. You will be looked to as the expert on the marketing technology stack and supported features/constraints to further business goals including realizing our Connected Customer vision.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), or Marketing, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job, as determined by the company 
  • 4+ years’ experience leading marketing technology at enterprise scale to achieve business outcomes
  • At least 1+ years’ experience managing data and technology used in real-time segmentation, personalization and optimization
  • Proven success bridging technical/development teams with marketing teams (media, creative, content, operations, brand management, etc.) including the ability to articulate business requirements
  • Understands marketing including advertising, acquisition, retention, dynamic ad serving/creative, personalization/segmentation at scale, optimization, data flows, and audience management
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities, limited resources and tight deadlines; excellent leadership, delegation and organizational skills to plan, prioritize, and handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Solid expertise and experience with requirements management methods and tools (e.g. requirements analyses, specifications, modeling, reviews, etc.)
  • Demonstrated deep understanding over the current and emerging marketing technology landscape and experience formulating solutions with a customer-focused attitude to meet business needs and drive growth
  • Strong project manager and problem solver with ability to lead the team to push the solution and progress, formulating and achieving measured goals
  • Strong analytical capabilities; experience using techniques like cost-benefit analysis for feature prioritization
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with ability to present complex messages, articulate trade-offs and tell a compelling story
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Prefer experience with Scrum and leading/working with teams in an agile IT environment
  • Experience with Salesforce CRM, Google Ads, Pinterest Ads, Facebook Ads, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Twilio, Tealium CDP, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Amplience, Certona, and Digital Asset Management platforms is a plus
  • Fast-paced, high-growth retail experience is a plus

Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop and maintain a clear understanding of Floor & Decor’s goals, marketing needs, measurement goals, development capabilities and be able to apply technology toward those goals in a way everyone can understand.
  • Formulate strategy and lead execution for marketing technology program across the organization; have a deep understanding of the Marketing Technology stack, as well as software development practices to recommend a build versus buy strategy
  • Lead relationship with IT and Ecommerce from idea to implementation, including translating stakeholder needs and business objectives into story mapping, requirements, direct improvements, and user stories with defined IT/system dependencies; conduct UAT (user acceptance testing); maintain and prioritize backlog multiple sprints in advance; maintain knowledge of the central application landscape and associated processes it covers
  • Lead inclusive partnerships with key stakeholders within the department (including advertising, email/1:1, field marketing, operations, budgeting, content, creative, brand management and leadership) to understand pain points/objectives/challenges/opportunities; bring simplicity to complex marketing technology so that all can understand; provide innovative solutions to achieve marketing goals through technology
  • Identify and create systems/processes to better understand the technology needs of the department and how these fit into the broader marketing technology ecosystem; bring solutions to reach goals, increase effectiveness, streamline process and drive ROI
  • Oversight and vision to marketing technology, including advertising, email, text/SMS, app, website, customer relationship marketing (CRM), digital asset management (DAM), etc.
  • Oversight and strong command over technical aspects of segmentation/personalization, including drafting technical requirements associated with segmentation builds, creating data flows and systems integrations via technology like Salesforce Sales Cloud, Marketing Cloud, Tealium, digital advertising platforms, etc.
  • Monitor reliability and health of the marketing technology platforms and manage delivery capabilities to increase stability, speed, and overall performance
  • Manage vendor and agency relationships for marketing technology platform capabilities (ad tech, email/1:1, text/SMS, CRM, CDP, CMS, DAM, etc.) and to ensure vendor roadmaps inform product roadmaps; this will include working with legal and procurement to RFP for vendors and establish contracts and agreements, managing budget, risk and time
  • Bring forward industry norms and best practices as relevant to business needs and opportunities
  • Lead compliance with all appropriate Privacy, Information Security, Data Governance protocols and laws

Working Conditions (travel & environment)

  • Occasional travel required including air and car travel.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to a warehouse environment and moving vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is typically quiet to moderate.


  • Sedentary Work – Ability to exert 10 - 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
